Every municipal ward in Toronto has a Community Environment Day
scheduled this summer. At this event, the city sets up a depot to take
various items including electronics, tires, paint, household hazardous
waste, clothes etc. As much as is possible of what is dropped off there
is reused or recycled.
At these events you can also buy new-replacement blue and green bins,
and grab as much compost as you want.
The events are taking place all summer long, at locations around the
city. I find this a convenient way to get rid of old TVs, computers,
batteries, etc.
The ones this weekend are taking place Saturday, at Coxwell & Lakeshore
and Albion & Kipling.
