He means you quote your rate and say plus GST.  Just like in the store, 
you see the price you pay and then the cashier adds the tax to that 
price.  Since businesses can pass through the GST, it's not an expense 
for them.
A business customer will always want the GST itemized for that reason.  
The exception would be if your self employed income is less than (IIRC) 
$30,000, in which case GST is not charged, nor passed through.
