Looking for BIG capacitors.

With a custom cable, you could do both.  Inside the case, make a cable
with the power and serial lines.  Run it outside the case and terminate
to a custom connector.


Big caps can be fun to play with as well, but as you've seen sourcing
them is a PITA.  Good luck!
