Not very common anymore.  MiniPCI on an adapter on the other hand is now
quite commom, although plain PCI cards are by far the most common just
due to volume production now.  It is no longer cost effective to just
make pcmcia cards (of which almost none are ever sold anymore) and put
them in adapters.
