That's an SATA burner, as are most newer drives:

So if you asked for an IDE DVD burner, the salesperson either made a 
mistake or misled you. Hopefully the former, though in that case one has 
to wonder at the competence of said salesperson. Hopefully it isn't the 
latter...

You should be able to go back and ask for an exchange.
