I've gone with an Apple iPod, which is, via GNUPod, something I can
operate with *completely* using Linux.  In part, it's an embedded
proprietary system, but interoperation is working fine, so I frankly
don't care very much.

I'm actually watching for the forthcoming availability of iPod Shuffle
"clones," as it looks like Taiwanese and Chinese vendors are working
on units that may even be more usable than the original, and which are
really really tiny...
