ssh won't allow non-root users to login on centos

I've seen something similar on FreeBSD boxes where I have just done a
dump-restore from another machine. If permissions on /var/run (and/or
/var/run/ld.so.hints) are hosed, bash (my usual use shell) will not start
for a non-root user, while csh (my usual root shell) works fine.

On linux you probably want to look at your load library cache.
