Xauthority files on Redhat AS

lrwxrwxrwx     /usr/bin/xauth -> /usr/X11R6/bin/xauth

However the .Xauthority file is not created when I log in using either
ssh -X or ssh -Y.  This works find on other servers.  Why not this one?
