Pact of Steel II, Microsoft/Novell

I've been reading stories about the recent Microsoft/Novell deal and one thing 
I've noticed is that no one seems to be talking about the number of times a 
Microsoft 'partnership' like this has worked out well for it's partner - I 
think it's zero or perhaps even negative :-)
