If you want remote console access I'd recommend using a serial console and 
locking down the box with access to the serial console in a big way (ssh 
with pub key access only).

This won't give you access to the bios but this is not a big deal in my 
experience.  Set the bios properly once (allow booting from cdrom) and 
forget it.
