spellcheck in openoffice not working

I have everything installed and set under Tools->Options, but no
spellcheck - not for the Canadian, US, or UK dictionaries. Bit of a
puzzle - never had a problem with this before.

Thanks for the help, though. I will be installing Kanotix sometime
this week on another box, and I will see if the problem duplicates
itself and puzzle my way through it.
