That worked, thanks much!  For me the directory was
/usr/lib/hotplug/firmware and I had to rename
1.0.4.3.arm to isl3890 .  As soon as I did that,
the little green light on the card went on; I didn't
even have to take the card out and reinsert it!  Then
I had to copy the relevant files to make PPPoE work
in /etc/ppp/peers, making a wireless version (only change
was eth0->eth1).
