Is Javascript bad? Is W3 validation important, or just cross-browser compatibility is?

Familiar, but not overly so - I think I've got the basics down anyway.
In the long-term, and if browsers don't include Parrot (or compatable
VM; Mozilla seems to have at least thought about it), that might be
the direction to go. For now though, a small JIT converter would be
much easier to get working.
If Atomic Perl (working name) pulls the trick off for a few months and
intrigues perl developers, then maybe (hopefully even!) they'd be
willing to help out on a Perl 6 VM for Atomic OS.
