The first TV remote I ever saw had only one button. Click it, and it 
changed to the next channel. Since there were only three channels then, 
it wasn't to much hassle not to have an up/down control.

The remote was acoustic, had no batteries (it really did click, loudly), 
and sent the neighbour's dog *mental* ...
