Banshee Music player and portable MP3 players

Anyone use the Banshee MP3 player? I am attempting to
make this work under Debian Etch with a Lexar 128MB
JumpDrive. So far I am to the point where the HAL
program recognizes the device, and puts a little iPod
style icon up on the GNOME desktop. Banshee I gather
uses HAL to ID available MP3 players, but in my case
that isn't happening.

Ideas?
