I won't quibble too much about top posting vs. bottom posting. Personally I
prefer bottom posting as I can read part of the original message before I read
the reply.
I will give people points for trimming posts. Too often I've seen a message
thread on a mailing list where people are just hitting reply, and adding their
comments. Next thing you know you wind up with a message of a hundred lines
or so and a person only adds one or two lines of new text. It makes it hard to
find out if someone actually added anything new (let alone whether they added
anything new that was more than an "I agree" type comment which is all some
people add).
