I'm going to agree about the card reader thing,  because of battery
life and speed, I find it more of a pain to plug a camera in than pull
out the SD card and stick it in my machine, which has a card reader
built in.  Also, yes, every piece of software that I've heard of would
treat anything communicating with USB mass storage like a removeable
device.
