  I'd actually prefer a closed nntp server with loosely-moderated
groups.  Mailing lists are a pretty good imitation of usenet, but I
would prefer the real thing.  It shouldn't be any more effort/hassle to
maintain than a mailing list.  And you wouldn't have to worry about
tripping over spamfilters.
