Anyone have cnn.com videos working in linux?

I've not tried it, but you can use the Useragent Switcher extension for 
Firefox to change your browser's identification.

I'm not sure that this will help if the site is asking for Windows Media 
Player. Does/can mplayer mimic Media Player?
