I had to explicitly include ModeLines for the Dell 2405FPW in my
xorg.conf file. You may want to try that. Here is the relevant section
of my xorg.conf file.

        Identifier   "Monitor0"
        VendorName   "Monitor Vendor"
        ModelName    "LCD Panel 1920x1200"
        HorizSync    31.5 - 90.0
        VertRefresh  60.0 - 60.0
        Option      "dpms"
        ModeLine "1920x1200" 161.8 1920 2020 2052 2184 1200 1202 1208
1235 -hsync -vsync
        ModeLine "1920x1200" 154.1 1920 1968 2000 2080 1200 1203 1209
