Using KDM. When I initially boot up, the login manager appears to be
at the correct resolution. It's when I log in that things are
"customized sideways".
~/.xsession-errors is full of messages, but I see no reference to an
xf86config file. I searched for strings like read, cannot and such..
but there don't appear to be any permissions notes. I searched for
various other phrases to check for resolution or display stuff.. no
luck.
How does KDE define its resolution preferences? Why would kcontrol
have something different than xorg.conf? How can I compare my startup
preferences between root and the user?
It looks like kde has preferences stored all over the place in ~/.kde
but I'm not sure where I'm looking for resolution settings. I tried
some basic searches, and came up dry.
