While Sub500 is probably a nice company, Linux support for Via C3
associated chipsets is extremely poor. The old Trident graphics on
first-gen C3 machines only has unaccelerated VESA support.

The S3 Unichrome Pro drivers are only marginally more useful, since the
Unichrome Linux development team has split into (at least) three groups
who will no longer talk to one another. There is an accelerated driver
in the X.org CVS, however, but it might not do everything you need.

cheers,
  Stewart
