The correct configuration for the 955DF is:

Horizontal : 30-85 KHz
Vertical : 50-160 Hz

If you tell that to the X config, it will pick the highest refresh it
can for the resolution you pick.  Pick too high a resolution and the
refresh will go rather low and there is nothing that can be done about
it (other than use lower resolution or a better monitor).

The monitor I am currently using is 30-110KHz and 50-160Hz, which easily
does 1600x1200 at 85Hz.  The 955DF does 1280x1024 @ 75Hz (recommended
setting by Samsung) and 1600x1200 @ 68Hz (which will flicker to some
people and possible make weird noises, which I have noticed many Samsung
monitors do at low refresh rate.  Rather annoying really).
