I think you best option is the Blackberry Webclient.  It provides the
ability to get email onto the Blackberry from a variety of email
systems ( imap, pop, etc... ).  The webclient downloads emails to the
Blackberry server and pushes them to the device over the wireless
link.  You should probably get the unlimited data service with a
Blackberry anyways...

I haven't used it in awhile but I believe there is also a contact
manager and CSV import capability.

I'm not aware of any way to sync directly between the Blackberry and Linux.
