I very much suspect the all in one install is in fact much harder to
setup than the debian packaged one.  Debian has many small scripts than
make automatically adding new features and packages to the apache config
very easy, which apache themselves have never done.

Using the system's package manager really is the simplest solution for
making everything just work together.
