I wouldn't go that far. Keyboard and mouse replication as well as additional
USB ports are quite standard but the rest (serial port, Ethernet, parallel
port, etc.) are not and require Linux drivers. I have an older Targus model
which I use with my Dell notebook; the serial port and Ethernet have Linux
drivers but the parallel port is not supported.
