Quality hardware and drivers help, but certainly in my experience that
still isn't enough to make windows run reliably for years without
reboots and reinstalls fairly frequently.

I suspect a large part of the problem is that all the different programs
have their own installers making their own mess all over.  And I have
never seen an upgrade from one windows version to another go cleanly and
result in a nice ready to use system, unlike say debian which I never
have to reinstall. :)
