The kernel SRPM (source RPM) is a really cool way to see what Red Hat
did to the stock Linux kernel; ie. what did they backport, add, remove
from the original source. Red Hat (as well as other distribution
vendors) like to pick one "stable" kernel version, and then back port
all sorts of stuff from newer "official" kernels into their older
ones. Thus, a 2.4.9 kernel from Red Hat might be part 2.4.9, with
stuff from 2.4.11 and newer kernels.

This practice can be a bit dangerous sometimes. Anyone who remembers
the Red Hat Linux 7.0 distribution will know that. Red Hat backported
USB support from the 2.4 kernel (which was new at the time) to 2.2,
with some disastrous results.
