One thing you have to watch for, is erratic mouse operation, after 
switching.  I find that if z-axis is enable, the mouse becomes unusable 
after switching.  In the 2.4 kernel, it was possible to switch to a text 
console and then back to the desktop, to clear the problem.  The 2.6 
kernel requires a reboot.
