Screen savers have been useless and pointless since the mid-1990s. All
modern monitors, CRTs and LCDs alike, are better put into one of the
deeper DPMS ("Energy Star") power-down states. This not only eliminates
wear on vulnerable components -- much better than just spreading the wear
around evenly -- but also saves energy.
(By the way, your computer seems to think it's January 2004...)
