I've found Dells to be pretty shoddy; they can crack and fail in 
numerous ways. Whatever you get, get it with the most elaborate warranty 
you can. Laptops take a beating, and you need them to work.

There will probably be one little component that you won't be able to 
get working properly -- something like CPU scaling, hibernate to disk, 
or sound restored after sleep.

You'd be horrified to know what I'm running now; check the headers, if 
you must ...
