I don't know the range, but the ATI Remote Wonder USB RF remote works 
for me. Once you've loaded the kernel module, it acts as a mouse and 
cut-down keyboard (it only supports 0-9, A-F, Enter, cursor keys and a 
couple more).

Without buying an ATI TV tuner, these are a bit hard to get on their 
own. Only one of the stores on College had one -- it's a place that 
specialises in CCTV surveillance, north side, a block or two west of 
Spadina.
