Salt water for example (not necessarily NaCl). Water is hard to beat for 
heat capacity. F.ex. the 'batteries' for use in portable cooler boxes 
contain a concentrated solution of salts. Those make a fairly good start 
'as is' althoough they won't like a lot of heat (certainly less than 100 
degrees C).
