Well you can unload the uhci/ohci/ehci module (the usb root) and reload
it, that makes it reset the usb controller, although you have to unload
every other usb driver first I suspect.
The correct thing to do would probably be to fix the usb cable problem
instead. usb cables are normally pretty secure unless the cable or the
port is broken.
