Conexant device 10b6 is a Conexant HCF mode, which is a winmodem. There
is a linux driver, but it is not open source, and only does 14.4, while
for some money can buy a 56k capable driver.
So that is NOT a hardware modem. Whoever said it was, was wrong, or
lied.
