Ethyl alcohol (aka ethanol) and isopropyl alcohol (aka isopropanol) are
two different substances.  The former is subject to all sorts of legal
restrictions; the latter is poisonous and hence is not, which is why it's
the alcohol of choice for cleaning applications.
