That's a late 20th century VP

I forget ... is spelling & pronunciation part of the MS thread or the
SCO thread?

As for the disparity between English spelling and pronunciation, blame
it on the Great Vowel Shift ( GVS ), ,15th-17th century. This major
change in pronunciation occurred just as the dictionaries were being
developed, the first known application of Murphy's Law to information
gathering. As a result, the dictionaries sanctified the spelling
appropriate for the old pronunciation.
