OT: dead monitor

Thanks. A previous reply woke me up to the fact that I should look to the 
normal government channel - I had been slow to because I don't have a car. 
In the process I found out about a couple of "environmental days" coming up 
this spring; one of them will be very close to where I live - they feature 
computer collection.
