Does anyone know how to change the phone number that pon dials? I checked a file referred to by pon --help (it was in etc/ppp/peers), but everything was in there *but* the phone number. This was configured by a deb guru when I was in Toronto last week. I'm a Debian first-timer (x redhat 7.3/8 user). The number dialing is long distance. I want to change it to the local 7-digit number now I'm home in Timmins. I tried configuring kppp instead so I can just get on the Internet - I have real work to do : ) But kppp can't find the modem - of course the modem is fine as pon dials through it (albeit to the long distance number) - so I guess pon has a lock as it were on the modem (on ttyS0).

I'd appreciate help (soon, if I may be so bold, as I'm in the Timmins library doing searches for answers before I go home to try the connection again).

The real thing I need tonight is the syntax of the line to insert into /etc/fstab to mount the floppy drive. There's something on the floppy I need to print for a meeting tomorrow morning. Redhat spoiled me by adding that line in -- Debian does no such thing.
