I can't afford to go to this symposium in terms of time or money, but the
registration deadline has been extended to today. U of T students get to pay
the least (around $125), but for what it is worth:

Open Source and Free Software:
Concepts, Controversies, and Solutions
Sun. May 9 - Tues. May 11, 2004
University of Toronto
http://osconf.kmdi.utoronto.ca

Some of the keynote speakers are (cut-and-pasted from the KMDI website):

# Bob Young, co-founder of Red Hat, the world's most successful Linux company
# Eben Moglen, Columbia law professor and general counsel, Free Software
Foundation
# Steve Weber, Berkeley political economy professor whose Harvard University
Press book on open source will appear this April
# Brian Behlendorf, co-founder of the Apache Web Server Project
# Derek Keats, recent chair of the first major African conference on open
source
