Another tcl question

What does one do to make key bindings work in a canvas for example ? As
in:

canvas .c
pack .c
bind .c <Key-a> { puts "key: %K" }

which fails to work (in several - about 4 different - versions of wish on
both Unix and Windows). Obviously I am doing something wrong. But what ?

And on topic (Linux): is there a patch to easily add readline support to
current tk versions ? Surely someone did this already w
?
