Hope you all don't mind this being posted here. This does not pertain
specifically to Linux. The technical knowledge displayed by many indicates
that this would be a promising endeavor.

I have learned of an employment opportunity.

If there are members of this group looking for full time employment at a
company in Whitby ON. (If you don't know where that is - you are too far out)

The company is looking for a "Computer Technician".

The pay scale would be that of a beginner in the field, based on the fact that
many credentials and a great deal of experience are not required but would be
an asset. The potential for progressing is there.

The successful applicant will be working directly with 3 other individuals,
and be the junior person of the group. The applicant should be someone either
recently out of college or early in their career and able to take direction
from workmates who have knowledge to share. Education + enthusiasm + manner +
knowledge will be your key points. Good communication skills will also be a
definite asset.

The job would involve interacting with numerous platforms (Unix, Windows
98-2003, Novell(?), Linux). The job is not a desk job. The job entails some
of the usual grudge work. Setting up peoples machines, moving computers,
configuring applications. Radio attached devices are in use in some
non-stationary equipment. Terminal Services and thin clients are used (140+
users). There are more than 240 computer users with in excess of 500
employees at this location. Work with telephony equipment is also involved.

The organization is Gerdau Ameristeel (corporate office is in Tampa, FL) and
the job is at the Whitby Mill. Gerdau Ameristeel Whitby is a steel
manufacturing facility.
