Back in my university days one of the lecturers set an interesting
assessment item for one of my final year pure mathematics courses.
Knowing that at least some of us would go on to lecture he required that
each of us take the class for 1-2 lecturers. My section contained quite a
bit of material so I elected to do 2 lectures.

I knew that the class would give me no quarter (it was a small class,
filled with people who would give no quarter). I had to make sure I knew
the material well.

I took the classes, successfully fielded all the questions thrown at me no
matter how hard they got, and you know what - I knew that section far
better than anything else in the course.

Since then I have always worked on the assumption of "know thine
material". This way you can overcome any obsticle. I also keep several
copies of the notes with me as losing your notes before going on stage is
so gauche :)
