No bell/beep

I just installed Fedora Core 2 and find that Ctrl-G (bell) doesn't work
anymore. (I know the physical connection is good because I do hear a
bell when the system initially boots.)

Bill Thanis had suggested altering aumix stuff, but this system doesn't
even have a sound card.

Any suggestions?
