MP3 devices and Linux

I have an old irock 520, that unfortunately no matter what I have tried,
I cannot access it in linux. ( special driver required in win )
Supposedly it is based on the old rio500, but I have not been able to
get it to work with the linux rio500 driver.
I have another, so I will give this one to the kids I suppose.
