To cover the filesystem issue: "that other OS" is (almost) the last
thing on my mind when it comes to filesystems.  I've written a basic fat
type system (during some real mode x86 OS experiments), went straight
into Minix :) and then Linux.  One of the first articles I read in Linux
Journal was how to setup stackable filesystems.  That's the point where
I never wanted to look back.  :D

ext2, ext3, (etc), it's all good.  :)
