I remember just doing a number of apt-get's and everything working, and
I think I installed mySQL after PHP too.  You could try apt-get install
--reinstall on php4 and/or php4-mysql, though dpkg-reconfigure is
probably a better bet.  I'd also check Fraser's suggestion first.
