Actually the article claims it wasn't, and it's probably true. There is a
referenec to a book about user interfaces. Trackballs and joysticks were
not invented at PARC, they had been in use in various (mechanical) forms
in drafting and scientific equipment for half a century or more. I wonder
who came up with the name joystick. And why no-one censed it.
