More like Mandrake won't let the file of a device that it thinks is in
use be overwritten, so the next attempt has to use the next available
interface.

That comment came from my notes for Mandrake 8.0 and after digging
around in 9.2 that its no longer necessary.

This link goes to the detailed 'how to' on the Roaring Penguin site. I
think thaty if you just comment out each of the files that it says to
edit and then re-run the script you should be fine.
