GNU regcomp(3), regexec(3): '\w'

I'm getting wierd results from GNU regcomp(3) and regexec(3). I can
only match letters and underscore with '\w', ie. '[A-Za-z_]' It doesn't
seem to match numbers.

According to egrep(1), '\w' is letters, numbers, and underscore; and,
'egrep' does work properly.

Am I missing something?
